Dodes'ka-den movie poster (Akira Kurosawa) 1974 U.S. release 27x41

This is an original, 27'' X 41'' folded one-sheet movie poster for the 1974 U.S. release of the classic 1970 Japanese film from director Akira Kurosawa entitled Dodes'ka-den. This poster was issued to American movie theatres upon the film's 1974 U.S. release and was originally folded into eighths, which was standard procedure for theatrical one-sheets prior to the mid to late 1980s. The poster remains in GOOD condition with its main issue being 3 pieces of scotch tape that were placed at the poster's top edge in its center and in each corner area. This was done by a previous owner, perhaps to hang the poster. Since the poster is black, the tape is not too visible, and the issue of staining from the acid in the scotch tape won't be too much of an issue. We found one small tear in its top center near one piece of tape and have mended that tear on the poster's backside using acid-free archival tape to prevent it from tearing further.
