The Great American Cowboy movie poster [rodeo documentary] 27x41 Oscar
This is an original, 27" X 41" folded Awards-version one-sheet movie poster for the Oscar-winning 1974 Kieth Merrill rodeo documentary entitled The Great American Cowboy. This poster was issued to American movie theatres following the film winning the Academy Award for Best Documentary in 1974. This documentary film chronicled the National Finals Rodeo Championship featuring veteran rodeo star Larry Mahan and the up-and-coming Phil Lyne. The poster is folded into eighths, which was standard procedure for theatrical one-sheets prior to the mid to late 1980s. The poster remains in GOOD condition with no other major condition issues besides wear to the folds which does include a few small areas of separation that have been mended on the poster's backside with acid-free archival tape. However, one separation at the top was mended with masking tape prior to our acquiring the poster and some of the acid's from that tape have bled through to the front and slightly discolored about a 1" area.
